What we collect, who can see it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are
Beam of Hope (BoH) SMILE runs bohsmile.org. For anything about your information, email [email protected] or call +263 774 706 628. We follow Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act.
What we collect
- Your account: email address, username, your real name, country and, if you give it, your phone number. Your password is stored only in scrambled form by our login provider; nobody at BoH can read it.
- Your membership payment: the EcoCash number you paid from and the transaction reference. Never your PIN.
- What you share: posts, comments, reactions, poll votes, testimonies and marketplace listings.
- Applications: what you send when you apply to work with us or for an opportunity, including CVs and certificates.
- Event registrations and messages you send us.
- Security records: sign-ins and admin actions, so we can protect accounts and investigate problems.
Who can see what
- Other members see your username, never your real name or contact details.
- Community posts are seen only by members of that community.
- Your real name, contact details, payment details and applications are seen only by you and BoH administrators.
- Moderators see reports and posts waiting for approval in the communities they look after.
- We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
Why we use it
To run your account and membership, keep communities safe, answer your applications and messages, and send the emails you need: confirming your account, your payment and any moderation decision about you.
Where it is kept
The site runs on Cloudflare, your information is stored with Supabase, and emails are sent through Resend. These services may keep data on servers outside Zimbabwe, under contracts that require them to protect it.
How long we keep it
Until you close your account, except payment and security records, which we keep for a period to decide for accounting and safety.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can object to how we use it. Email [email protected]; we will answer within a time to decide.
Age
BoH SMILE accounts are for people aged an age to decide and over.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we will tell members by email.
